April has all but disappeared, the entirety of the month spent predominantly inside, apart from a trip to the supermarket (1km walk) every two or so days, for supplies. I could cut down the frequency of these trips but, if truth be told, I intentionally ‘forget’ items so I have to go back again. That sounds ridiculous but with everything being shut the supermarket is literally the only place to go and I can’t go there if I don’t need anything – that’s just plain stupid.
I’ve just flicked through my photos to check wtf I have actually done this month like everyone else around the world the answer is not a lot…
Below are a few quick highlights of my life since the end of March:
Shaved all my hair off:
Phillips One Blade – 30 mins later – look a bit nuts (the beard came off a few days later).
Cooked some food:

Drunk too much beer – I managed about ~160 cans in 8 days and then stopped…

Took part in a few ‘Zoom Quizzes’

Played a bit of N64 – Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Donkey Kong & Zelda 😉

Intro to Psychology – Online course from Yale

Finished an Audiobook – It was nice to virtually travel the length of the US East Coast with Bill Bryson.

On reflection, I actually haven’t done too badly in terms of activities for the month. I mean it is shite being stuck in the same building all the time but things could be worse. My routine is away to f**k – bedtime is now 6am and morning is 2pm – it’s hard to even have a routine when you don’t have to can’t go or be anywhere.
I also created 25 questions about life, got pished and decided to interview my flatmates using them. I’ve got all the responses now so might post about that. One day. It was a pretty fun exercise actually and the answers were lubricated with ample alcohol. It’s funny how deep down everyones fears, actions and past experiences are so similar. Most things seem to be explained by either romantic relationships, childhood/school experiences or parental things! I think that is the case even wider than the walls of the current apartment I find myself in. I could be wrong though!

The lockdown in Hanoi is due to be reviewed tomorrow; there have been no new cases in the country for five days and still no deaths. I think it is likely to be extended out until the end of April 🤔. As is the case with the rest of the world; we wait and see.
Despite enjoying my time in Hanoi there are indeed a small number of things which I do miss about good old Edinburgh; I’ll leave you with that.
